Click Here for the link to the arizona Region Boys Tournament Info Page, which gives a simple breakdown for where each team will be playing, and how they are seeded within their pools, which we posted an image of below Q&AHow long does the tournament go for?
Tournament starts at 9:00 am, and the end time depends entirely on how long each match goes. for example, one pool could have each match go to 3 sets, resulting in longer match times, which can alter the "rough" start times for the next match. typically the days go until 5pm, and no longer than 7pm. How is the tournament formatted? The tournament is formatted to begin play at 9:00 am, and the coaches will typically communicate what time the team should arrive. The play schedule will be posted at a tournament info desk by the main entrances inside each facility, which will give a rough play schedule for each team in the pool. For divisions 1-7, pool play will be followed by a single elimination cross pool match, determining what place the team will be for the next tournament. for divisions 1-6, The top 4 teams in each division move up, and eh bottom 4 will move down. In Division 7, these teams will play on the lower net height, so these teams will not change division, only ranking. What can I bring in terms of food/Chairs/Camps? For each of the playing locations, food is permitted to be eaten outside, with nothing besides water brought inside the facility. Parents are welcome to bring coolers and pop-up tents, which can be used outside in between games. For Spiral, Aspire, Court One, and Kingdom Courts, each facility has viewing areas, with bleachers surrounding the courts. What is the Address for where my athlete is playing? Kingdom Courts- 11410 N. 19th Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85029 Aspire- 8350 S. Kyrene Rd, Suite 107, Tempe, AZ 85284 Court One- 9100 S. McKemy Street, Tempe, AZ 85284 Spiral- 400 N. 56th Street, Chandler, AZ 85226 For any further questions, please contact taylor Stallman [email protected] (623) 694-8474 Since 2012, only two clubs in Arizona have been named AZ Region Champions in the 18’s Division; Arizona Fear and Spiral Volleyball Club. In 2014, Spiral won an Open Boys Junior Nationals Championship under Director Molly Stark; Spiral was also the runner-up in the club Division in 2015. In this same time frame, AZ Fear won two Region Championships and three Club Division Bronze Medals.
In the Fall of 2016, both of these powerhouse programs will join forces for boys, closing the gap between North Valley Fear VBC, and Spiral (boys program only) in the East Valley. This opportunity will create the ultimate competitive environment. Players will train with top players from across the state, and all players will benefit from the high-level coaching that both clubs provide. So how does this affect your athlete? Tryouts for both the travel and regional teams will be held and formed at both locations. Travel Teams will compete in out-of-state tournaments/qualifiers multiple times within the club season, and will practice at Kingdom Courts, as well as the Spiral Volleyball Facility. Regional Teams will compete in the region tournaments as well as the Holiday Classic in December (Anaheim, California), and will practice solely on their own sides of town. Our mission in this transition is to create a boys club that can consistently compete at the highest level on the National stage. We are excited about this new journey, which we feel will help immensely elevate the level of competition for Arizona Boys Volleyball. After having 7 teams travel and compete in California, Fear Volleyball is on the road a week later for the Boys Junior National Championships, located in Dallas, Texas. The 18 White, 17 White, and 16 White are looking to medal at Nationals, after 3 years of the 18 White taking Bronze, in back-to-back-to-back seasons.
The 18 White begins their quest on June 29th, going in as the 2 seed overall in club division, after placing 13th in California. The 17 White's journey starts on July 1st, going in as the 6 seed overall all in club division, after placing 15th in California. The 16 White starts their battle on June 30th, going in as the 16 seed overall in club division, after placing 21st in California. Wish them luck as they battle for the next four days, competing to make it back up to the podium once more! In the spring of 2016, while high school volleyball programs are in session, there is a youth volleyball movement going on.
Growing the game within the club scene, Fear had a region leading 3 teams; Fear 14 White, Fear 14 Blue, and Fear 12 White, which participated in 4 tournaments, gaining game experience before moving on to high school. Thanks to the Arizona Region for organizing this spring season, to the 31 young athletes who participated, and to the parents who supported. We hope to see all of you this summer for tryouts, thank you for #growingthegame in Arizona! |
