David Thistle
David moved to Phoenix summer 2015 from Tucson- this is 2nd year with AZ Fear, and his 15th year coaching club. David lives in Phoenix with his wife, Whitney and his 2 children, 6 year old David Joseph, and 3 year old Joey Elizabeth.
As a player, played just 2 years of HS volleyball for Amphitheater High School in Tucson, and 1 year of club for Club Cactus. After high school, David played for the University of Arizona Men’s Club Team from 2000/01-2004/05, winning 3 Club National Championships 2002-2004), and received 2003 Mountain West 2nd Team All-Conference Player(MB) honors.
David Head Coached HS Freshmen Boys/Girls Volleyball at Rincon High School in Tucson from 2000-2003; club volleyball Boys/Girls for Club Cactus from 2000-2005, winning back to back to back to back-AZ Region Titles for 16s Boys. From 2001-2005, David was the University of Arizona Volunteer Assistant coach for Division I Woman’s team for 2 years, 2004/05 and 2005/06 (made it to the great 8) and was also the 2005/06 Assistant coach University of Arizona Woman’s Club Team-2006, the National Runner Up. David was also the Head Coach for the University of Arizona Men’s Club Team in 2007 and 2008, and coached Zona Girls Club Volleyball as a Head Coach from 2006-2014/15
David was also the Head Coach and Co-Director of Arizona Premier Boys Volleyball from 2006-2014/15, where his teams were Silver Medalists at USA Volleyball Nationals in2011 and 2012. In 2013, his team won Bronze Medals at Nationals. In 2011, David was the Arizona USA Volleyball High Performance assistant coach for the AZ Select youth Team.From 2006- 2009, David was the Girls Head Varsity Coach at Sahuaro HS. In 2009/10, he was the Girls Head Varsity Coach Amphitheater High School making a Final 4 appearance 2009/10.
From 2010-2014/15, David was the Head Varsity Girls Volleyball Coach Catalina Foothills HS Receiving 2011/12 AIA Section Coach of the Year Honors, and in 2014/15 his team made a final 4 appearance. David was also the Varsity Boys Head Coach Catalina Foothills HS from 2007/08-2015, winning the 2008 State Championship, and receiving 2008 Tucson Coach of the Year honors. In 2010 and 2011, his team was also the State Runner Up.
